Travelling cattle class

If there is something called travelling etiquette, then Delhiites have none of it. The Metro it was thought, would at least compel them to learn some manners ---- the basics like standing in the queue, letting the passengers get down from the train first before hopping in and most important of all, not to push or pull the fellow passengers---- but nothing like that has happened. Instead Delhiites have gone from bad to worse.
I got pushed and pulled as I was boarding the train in the evening. Not that I was surprised at the way fellow passengers were behaving but what intrigued me was why did people want to just squeeze in even when they could see there was no space inside the train to even stand on one feet. They could have easily waited for another train as during peak hours the waiting time for trains is just a couple of minutes.
And it didn’t end there. Once inside, they start jostling for seats. ‘Kindly adjest,’ comes in the request--- a request that sounds more like a rebuke ‘how dare you sit while I am standing’. And the seat that is meant for five people will then have seven on it in ‘adjesting’ mode--- virtually in each other’s lap.
Who cares for the manners!
